Dear Fellow State Employees,
When you think of charity, which words come to mind? Compassion, kindness, generosity, and goodwill are a few that might make your list. What about power? That’s the word I most associate with the State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC), thanks to the generosity of state employees over the past 30 years. Since the first campaign in 1985, state employees have donated more than $100 million to charities through the campaign.
That’s the “Power of Giving”!
I’m honored to serve as the 2016 State Chair of this important campaign, and I ask you to join me in continuing our proud state employee tradition by making a pledge or donation this year.
The SECC’s ‘Power of Giving’ allows each one of us to make a difference in a way that’s important to us personally and also joins us with a larger philanthropic effort with significant impact. Together, our donations are making a powerful and positive impact in our local, national, and global communities.
State employees across North Carolina deserve considerable credit and thanks for their public service and for the more than $100 million they have contributed to countless charities since 1985. I am personally grateful for your work on behalf of our state and for your continued support of the SECC.
As you consider your pledge to one or more of the almost 1,000 participating charities, remember- you have the power to make a difference.
Thank you for caring,
Donald R. van der Vaart
